Changemaker, Scientist & Educator
Mark is a forensic scientist, researcher, and educator. His research is problem-based focused, adopting a
multidisciplinary approach, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at
international conferences and is a professional member with both the Chartered Society of Forensic
Sciences (MCSFS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC). Mark holds an MSc in Forensic Science
from the University of Strathclyde and an MRes in Security Science from UCL. He is currently writing up
his PhD for submission.
As an educator, he has over six years’ experience lecturing at the undergraduate and postgraduate
levels and has been nominated by his students for a number of teaching and supervision awards. Mark is
passionate about teaching and is a strong advocate for STEM education and addressing
underrepresented groups in STEM fields. He is flexible in his approach to teaching and adapts his
teaching methods to provide all students with a variety of opportunities for effective learning,
making use of a spectrum of intelligences and multi-sensory experiences.
